ID Programs


Through an initiative between United Way of Greater Start County, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Health Departments, the ID Program provides birth certificates and photo IDs to homeless individuals & families living in a Continuum of Care shelter and those seeking and receiving addiction treatment .

As of October 2017, we have helped provide 469 birth certificates and 275 photo IDs.

Attention Community Partners, Hospitals and Social Service Agencies

BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND PHOTO ID PROGRAM available to individuals in need of in-house recovery services.

Individuals in need of a Birth Certificate and/or Photo ID, who are residents of Stark County and born in Ohio, can obtain a voucher to secure the required documents at the time of intake at one of the below partner treatment centers.
United Way of Greater Stark County partners with Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center, Inc., CommQuest Services, and Phoenix Rising Behavioral Healthcare and Recovery Inc. to assist Stark County residents with a voucher to obtain a free Birth Certificate from the Canton, Massillon and Alliance Health Departments and or a Photo ID from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Birth Certificate and/or Photo ID vouchers are accepted by the Canton and Massillon Health Departments. Alliance residents can obtain a Birth Certificate by contacting Alliance for Children & Families at 330-821-6332. Canton, Massillon and Alliance residents may obtain a Photo ID at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles at 2812 Whipple Ave. NW, Canton, Ohio.  

Client must receive voucher during treatment intake process to be eligible for services.
