(Stark and Carroll Counties, OH) Dec. 23 , 2021 – United Way of Greater Stark County announced today the hiring of Angela Perisic as president and chief executive officer, beginning April 1, 2022. Perisic currently serves as the nonprofit’s executive vice president of resource development and community impact.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to take on this new role,” said Perisic. “I strongly believe in the mission of United Way and the work we do. We have an incredible team and a compassionate community behind us – one that’s invested not only in United Way, but also in the idea of making Stark and Carroll Counties stronger.”
Perisic will succeed United Way of Greater Stark County’s current President & CEO Maria Heege when she retires on March 31, 2022, after more than 40 years with the organization.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Angela since she first joined United Way nearly 25 years ago,” said Heege. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see someone who has devoted her career to United Way take on this role. Angela brings fierce passion and dedication to our work. She has a natural talent for building and uniting teams, a skill that will serve us well as United Way continues to lead collaborations and provide support for nonprofit agencies throughout our community. I look forward to seeing everything United Way will accomplish for our community under her leadership.”
Perisic joined United Way of Greater Stark County in February 1997 as an administrative assistant. Over the years, she held multiple positions within the organization including resource development, donor relations and campaign fundraising.
“Next year, United Way of Greater Stark County will celebrate 100 years of serving our community,” said Perisic. “A lot has changed since that time, even within the last 25 years since I’ve joined the organization. We have a strong legacy we need to honor, but as we look to the future, I’m excited to lead us in a new direction as we find more solutions to the complex issues facing our community.”
United Way of Greater Stark County’s board of directors voted to approve Perisic for the position of president and CEO on Dec. 20.
“As we searched for the right candidate to fill this position, Angela’s passion for United Way and her deep understanding of the challenges facing our community truly set her apart,” said United Way of Greater Stark County Board Chair Mike Howard. Her experience and familiarity with this organization will certainly provide continuity for all those we serve, our community partners, volunteers and donors. Angela has incredible vision that will guide United Way and this community toward the future.”
