United Way of Greater Stark County Hires Director of Philanthropy

(Canton, OH) May 31, 2018 – Terri Bate has joined the staff of United Way of Greater Stark County as the Director of Philanthropy. The new position was developed to strengthen existing relationships with key stakeholders while nurturing new connections with individual donors and foundations. The Director of Philanthropy serves as a liaison between unique donors and pressing needs in the community, so they know how their giving is making a significant impact.

“We’re fortunate to have a very caring and generous community,” explains Maria Heege, United Way of Greater Stark County President and CEO. “As we considered all we are doing to help create a thriving community, we realized this was the perfect time to learn more about our supporters’ passions and interests so we could show them the many opportunities for their engagement. We are impressed with Terri’s ability to connect the mission of United Way with local donors who want to support that mission.”

Terri brings extensive experience to the position, having served the Presbyterian Mission Agency of the National Presbyterian Church (USA) as the chief development officer and senior director of the Funds Development ministry. In addition, she was the senior director for major gifts at Habitat for Humanity International, following ten years as executive director for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Canton.

“I’m originally from Stark County, and I’ve spent the last fifteen years working outside our community in national and international organizations, learning how to engage people in positive change,” said Terri. “I’m really excited about bringing that knowledge back home, so that United Way of Greater Stark County can continue to make a dramatic difference. This is a fantastic opportunity to mobilize the best resources to help people live United. Terri Bate can be contacted at (330)491-9969 or [email protected].
